Price of gas on the rise, but down in year to year

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Although when compared to prices in 2014, drivers don’t have much ground to stand on when complaining about gas prices, they are on the rise.

The year to year price of gas is down nearly $1 per gallon, but within a few short weeks, it’s been climbing back up. The price is back up to $2.80 per gallon in Buffalo.

“This summer I can fill my gas tank for about $20 less at least, so it’s nicer having cheaper prices and not having to look around for them as much,” Mercedes Olivera, local driver, said.

But other drivers are finding ways around suffering at the pump at all.

“I have a motorcycle too, so when the price goes up, I get on the bike,” Brian O’Connell, local motorist, said. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
