Person pinned between shipping container and train

SLOAN, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person suffered injury in an accident at the Bison Intermodal Terminal off of Bison Parkway on Friday morning.

Police say a call came in just before 5 a.m. of a man who was pinned between a box and train. The worker reportedly was reportedly pinned when a yard tractor moved the box from the train and made a sharp turn. The 29-year-old man reportedly suffered severe injuries to his leg. First responders brought him to the Erie County Medical Center.

The company that owns the rail yard, Norfolk Southern, says the accident involved an employee of a contractor, not an employee of Norfolk Southern. The company says the cause of the incident is under investigation.

Police aren’t yet identifying the man who was injured, as a police investigation is also underway.
