O’Shei will not have federal charges pressed against him

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Of two Buffalo Police Officers who were working as off-duty security at a local bar when an Air National Guardsman was killed, at least one will not be charged in relation to the event.

Officials within the U.S. Attorney’s Office say Adam O’Shei will not face federal charges for the events which followed the fatal push of Bill Sager by Jeffrey Basil.

Basil, a manager at the bar, pushed him down the stairs with intent to harm him, and was convicted of first degree manslaughter when he pleaded guilty to the crime on June 9. Events which surrounded that death led to the suspensions of both O’Shei and fellow Buffalo Police Officer Robert Eloff.

Eloff is accused on felony federal charges and is moving forward in the legal process following a federal criminal complaint.

O’Shei will never face a similar complaint.
