ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Bills have three days this week to fine-tune everything before a six-week break until training camp.
The team opened its only mandatory portion of the offseason workouts today, with a three day mini-camp. Only offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson was not on-hand. Bills head coach Rex Ryan said Henderson had some travel issues.
Overall, players and coaches are treating this is the last chance to get all the bugs out before they go full-speed in training camp.
“The thing that I want to see though is the obvious mistakes be eliminated by now, and they weren’t. Like today we had some, I gave a couple of examples on offense, a couple of examples on defense, but that’s kind of what you’re hoping will ratchet out these next two days, that hopefully we can start eliminating some of these, as I think, obvious mistakes,” said Ryan.
As usual, the quarterback competition received most of the spotlight. All three of the primary options – EJ Manuel, Matt Cassel, and Tyrod Taylor – had their moments today.
“Today was nice, because it actually was our third go-round after this entire offseason of introducing and all that stuff. Hopefully, I think we had a better grasp today of what we had in the past,” said Cassel.
“Just want to finish up strong this week and be prepared for a fast pace, come August,” said Manuel.
The Bills have two more sessions on tap this week over the next two days, then that will be all until training camp opens on Friday, July 31st.
