Hamburg pushes to expand quiet zones for train horns

Hamburg silences train horns

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) — A municipality which already has completed quiet zones on two roads is looking to expand the peaceful areas.

After completing zones which allow trains to pass by without blowing their horns in 2014, Hamburg residents are pushing for an expansion. Quiet zones were completed on Rogers and Cloverbank Roads in 2014 by setting up barriers drivers can’t bypass.

Now neighbors and Erie County suggest a new push could see two more roads get quiet zones on Pleasant Avenue and Lakeview Road.

Locals say train horns have increased so much in volume that they can be extremely disturbing in the middle of the night.
