Wanted man located in Florida, extradited back to NY

WELLSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Wellsville man is back in New York after being cuffed in Florida, where he was allegedly dodging warrants for his arrest.

Police say they arrested Aaron M. Maier, 26, and charged him with third degree grand larceny, tampering with physical evidence and fifth degree conspiracy. An investigation into Maier started in July of 2014 when he was accused of stealing $14,000 from the house of a Wellsville residence.

Maier allegedly worked to destroy evidence of the theft, but police say they have enough to charge him with the crime.

After being extradited back to New York, police say he was arraigned and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond.
