Woman accused of driving into church under influence of drugs

GAINESVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Warsaw woman is facing charges of driving while impaired by drugs after she crashed into a church on Tuesday.

Police say Emily C. Brown, 29, drove north on State Route 19 and was wavering between lanes before veering off the road. Brown is accused of swerving into a parking lot and then smashing into the back of Rock Glen Baptist Church in Gainesville.

The church sustained serious damage to its foundation. When police arrived to the scene, Brown was brought to a local hospital to receive treatment after the crash. When she was released from the hospital, police took her into custody.

Brown is charged with DWAI drugs, reckless driving, moving from lane unsafely and speed not reasonable and prudent. Police say following arraignment, she was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
