ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Troopers and the Alden Central School District say they’ve struck a new partnership which will increase police presence in the area and aid Troopers with a space upgrade.

The district renovated a property owned across the street from the school at 11187 Broadway at the suggestion of New York State Troopers. Officials say Troopers will now use the 1,700 square foot building as their officers assigned to the Alden area.

The building will be an upgrade over their location at the Town of Alden Highway facility. Captain Steven Graap, the commander of the zone, said they can’t thank the school district enough for the help.

“This is an ideal location as it increases State Police visibility, provides greater access for the public, and is situated directly in front of the primary school,” he said.

Alden Superintendent Adam Stoltman said he’s looking forward to keeping police close to his school. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
