NEW YORK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A dental company with establishments across western New York is the target of New York’s Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
Aspen Dental Management provides support for 40 dental offices across the state, but is based out of Syracuse. Schneiderman says his office has received hundreds of complaints about the business’ practice. He’s demanding change.
The company is accused of splitting patients’ fees with clinics, which is illegal in New York State. Schneiderman says dental decisions should be made by licensed professionals; be free of management.
Following Schneiderman’s investigation, the company agreed to pay a $450,000 fine for violating NYS law.
