Replica ships take visitors back in time

BUFFALO, N.Y. (CW-23) – Now that the Nina and Pinta, two Columbus-era replica ships, are all docked at Erie Basin Marina, they are attracting visitors who want to learn more about the original voyage

First Mate Michael Sprague has traveled on board the floating museums for two years.”When you live on deck it’s like living in a fish bowl,” he explained to News 4. “Everyone gets to check out what you’re doing since it’s just open. It’s also really cool to live aboard something that so many people are just attracted to.”

The ships are open for public tours from 9am – 6 pm, through Tuesday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
