Street festival to celebrate BBQ and blues

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Western New York has a lot of street festivals in the summer, but only one combines the sweet smells of barbeque with the rich tunes of the blues.

The “BBQ and Blues Bash” is happening Friday night in on Illinois Street in the Cobblestone District by First Niagara Center. Four local blues bands will play entertain the crowd as they enjoy ribs, brisket, and more from the area’s best barbeque restaurants.

It’s all to raise money for Gateway-Longview. “We have a party right in the street,” said Vice President of Foundation & Organizational Advancement Andrea Moran. “The best barbeque, and it’s all in support of local kids. It’s just a good time.”

The event runs from 5 pm until 9:30pm. Tickets are $25 available for purchase at the door. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
