Woman arrested for shooting her neighbor’s dog

CLAVERACK, N.Y. – State police arrested Linda Derosa, of Claverack, New York Thursday for aggravated animal cruelty.

Police began investigating the suspicious death of a dog on June 14. When police did find “Poppy”, a family pet on behind Derosa’s home, it was determined that the dog died as the result of a gunshot wound.

Following an investigation conducted by police, it was discovered that Derosa shot Poppy with a .22 rifle.

Derosa was charged with a class E felony and issued an appearance ticket. She is due back in court in July.
