Sabres draft Jack Eichel with second overall pick

SUNRISE, Fla. (WIVB) – Draft day is finally here and Jack Eichel is finally a Sabre. Buffalo drafted the Boston University freshman with the second overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft Friday night.

Going into the draft, Sabres Director of Amateur Scouting Greg Royce said the Sabres believe he could end up as the top player in this year’s draft class.

“Very exciting, I think a franchise player. He does things that are unexpected, high hockey sense, unbelievable skater. He’s going to be a number one center for a long time,” Royce said. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
