SUNRISE, Fla. (WIVB) – The Sabres continue to re-shape the roster, speeding up the rebuilding effort in the process. Former Colorado forward Ryan O’Reilly is now on board, coming over in a draft night trade.

O’Reilly, a 24-year old forward with a strong two-way game, scored 17 goals with 38 assists in 82 games last season. The season before, he scored 28 goals.

Heading to Colorado in the deal are defenseman Nikita Zadorov, forward Mikhail Grigorenko, prospect JT Compher, and the 31st overall pick in the draft for O’Reilly and winger Jamie McGinn, a 26-year old one year removed from a 19-goal season. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
