Art gallery celebrates technology and animation

BUFFALO, N.Y. (CW-23) –  It’s the first full week of summer vacation for most children in Western New York. One popular way for families to spend the season is by visiting cultural organizations around town like the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. But you don’t have to bring your kids all the way to the museum on to experience it anymore.

The gallery’s brand new app brings some of its most well known sculptures and paintings right to the palm of your hand. “Art Games 2.0,” now available for download free of charge, and features eight interactive games inspired by paintings and sculptures in the gallery’s collection.

In addition to the newly launched app, the gallery has devoted most of its 1905 building to the animated works in its collection. “Screen Play” has transformed this part of the gallery into mini movie theaters for the summer. There are more than fourteen hours of animated work available for viewing from now until September. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
