BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A busy weekend at Buffalo’s Canadian border led to 10 separate seizures of potentially dangerous items.
Officials with Customs and Border Patrol say they seized a handgun from a 35-year-old man and turned him over to New York State Police they seized another firearm from a 43-year-old man before turning him over to police. One final stop at the Rainbow Bridge led to three firearms seizures and an arrest.
Four U.S. citizens who also were stopped were cited for attempting to bring various drugs or controlled substances, including pills, marijuana, prescribed medications and more into the U.S.
A pair of Canadians who attempted to bring marijuana into the U.S. were denied entry and were issued a $500 penalty.
“These seizures are direct results of the hard work and vigilance by our officers and the close working relationship we have with our law enforcement partners on both sides of the border,” Mark MacVittie, acting port director for the Port of Buffalo, said.
