Hodgson clears waivers

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Cody Hodgson cleared waivers Tuesday, paving the way for the Sabres to buy out his contract.

Once that happens, the forward will become an unrestricted free agent, free to sign with any team he chooses.

NHL free agency officially begins July 1st. Hodgson will likely have to accept a contract far smaller than his previous deal with the Sabres, coming off a season where he scored just six goals in 78 games.
