Man drowns during jet ski ride on Lake Ontario

PORTER, N.Y. (WIVB)- A man drowned in Lake Ontario on Saturday after a jet ski ride with his grandson.

Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the lake at 7:03 p.m. on July 4. Investigators say, 76-years-old John Rogers, from Youngstown was riding on a jet ski with his grandson when he fell into the water and wasn’t able to get back on the jet ski. They were about 150 yards from shore.

Bystanders pulled the Rogers from the water and administered CPR until officials arrived, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Rogers was transferred to Mount St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
