EVANS, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman trusted to manage a local store is accused of stealing from it nearly 300 times.
Police say they were tipped off to potential thefts after a large quantity of money went missing from a deposit bag in June. Subsequent investigation landed the manager of the Angola Service Area McDonald’s to trouble with the law.
Repeated thefts from deposit bags and a string of forged daily ledger reports surfaced during the investigation by New York State Police, leading them to arrest Valerie L. McKeever, a 31-year-old Gowanda native.
Police charged her with third degree grand larceny and 250 counts of falsifying business records. Police believe over roughly 300 thefts, McKeever stole more than $6,000 from the McDonald’s branch.
Following her arraignment, police placed McKeever in the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
