Released inmate returns to jail to attack Sheriff’s Deputy

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering in the Erie County Medical Center, and his accused assailant is back behind bars.

Police say after releasing Sunday Baez from the Erie County Holding Center on Monday, he returned on Tuesday and attempted to force his way into the maximum security building.

Baez is accused of going into a rampage, throwing office equipment and attacking the Sheriff’s Deputies manning the front door. Police eventually arrested the man and charged him with assault, harassment and criminal mischief. Similar charges which placed the man in the holding center in the first place.
