Academy graduates 21 officers for WNY

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The second class of graduating deputies stood together on Friday at the Erie Community College City Campus.

The 21 deputies graduated from the Basic Corrections Academy, meaning they will be assigned to either the Erie County Holding Center or the Erie County Correctional Facility. Deputies will continue to train with experienced officers, but received training over 13 weeks for defensive tactics, jail management and equipment or weapon training.

New deputies will receive their assignments after they complete their field training with experienced deputies.
