LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Niagara Falls man is facing several felony charges after police say he milked the unemployment system for $5,300.
Police in Lockport concluded their investigation and made the arrest Thursday, saying they gathered enough evidence to charge Nicholas E. Roessler, 30, with taking unemployment benefits from May 2011 through August of 2014. New York State Troopers who participated in the investigation say the man worked for three local businesses in that span — something he didn’t report to New York State.
Roessler stands charged with third degree grand larceny, falsifying business records and offering to file a false instrument — all felony charges.
Following his arrest, police issued him appearance tickets. He’ll return to court on July 15.
