Plane loses wheel on landing at Prior Aviation

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Despite a large response to a runway at Prior Aviation near the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, nobody was injured when a plane lost its wheel during a landing on Friday.

Officials say just before 2 p.m., they received an alert, classified as an “Alert One” when a Cessna 170 landed following a flight from Burlington, Ontario. The plane — which was landing to clear customs — lost its front left wheel, forcing the plane to take a hard landing.

The plane came to a stop at the end of the runway, but did not roll over. Officials say there were no injuries as a result of the incident.

The Cessna 170 is a 1952 vintage plane. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
