Taste of Buffalo not the only thing happening around town this weekend

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – It’s a jam-packed July weekend in Western New York. It’s your last chance to catch the star crossed lovers at Delaware Park. Shakespeare in the Park’s production of Romeo and Juliet closes Sunday. There are free performances Friday and Saturday at 7:30. Shakespeare returns July 23rd with Twelfth Night.

You might know him for his President Obama impressions, but this SNL cast member will be telling jokes as himself in Buffalo this weekend. Jay Pharoah has shows at Helium Comedy Club Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and 10pm.

Get ready to get just buggy. The Insectival is back at the Tifft Nature preserve Saturday. Your kids can meet live insects up close, make bug-based crafts – and even try tasting an edible bug or two. There are two sessions. They suggested per-registering here.

It’s time for one of the oldest ethnic festivals in the city of Buffalo. The Grease Pole Festival is about more than the famous crazy looking contest where teams of people climb a greased pole together. The day is devoted to Latino culture, with food, music, and dancing, too. It goes all day at the community center on Swan Street.

The West Side Rowing Club will host its Invitational Regatta on Sunday. The event has been entertaining boat lovers for more than one hundred years. You’ll be able to see the teams compete in the black rock canal from 9am to 2 pm.
