Following deadly leak, Rich Products firing on all cylinders

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Nearly a week after a fatal accident killed a contractor at Rich Products, the food packaging company is back up and running at the Fort Erie plant.

Officials at Rich’s say they fired up production again on Sunday night after shutting down the Fort Erie plant last Monday. Officials last week evacuated the plant and surrounding homes due to a deadly ammonia leak that killed a contractor.

Although the plant has been closed, workers have worked hard to clean the plant to prepare it to resume production, and as of Sunday night, officials say they’re operating at maximum capacity.

Canadian officials are in the process of investigating the leak at the Rich’s location. Rich’s world headquarters is in Buffalo, where the frozen food company pumps out products for a number of vendors.
