LONDON, ONTARIO (WIVB) — A promising NHL player and new Buffalo Sabres center is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol in Canada.

Police say Ryan O’Reilly, a player who the Sabres recently traded for, ran into a Tim Hortons at around 4:00 a.m. on July 9. O’Reilly is accused of leaving the scene after hitting the building.

After being dispatched, police from Middlesex County utilized witnesses from the scene to piece together the accident. They then arrested and charged 24-year-old Ontario native O’Reilly with driving while ability impaired and failure to remain at the scene.

In a report from the scene, police described the crashed vehicle as a green Chevrolet pickup truck. O’Reilly recently sent out a photo of the pickup truck from his Instagram account. O’Reilly’s Twitter account, however, recently disappeared.

Police released O’Reilly on appearance tickets.
