Niagara introduces Pierce as new women’s basketball coach

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) On Wednesday Niagara University introduced their new women’s head basketball coach, Jada Pierce. Pierce’s resume includes 18 years of collegiate coaching experience, which includes five NCAA tournament appearances and 23 All-Conference players. However, Niagara will be the first time she serves as a division one head coach.

“This day I was waiting for a long time. I was getting extremely choked up because I have waited for this for so long,” Pierce explained. “Sometimes you don’t believe that dreams do come true and Niagara is a special place. I felt it from day one and I am just excited to be here to represent the women’s basketball program.”

Pierce most recently served as an assistant coach at St. Joseph’s University, where the women’s basketball team reached the NCAA tournament in both 2013 and 2014. She aims to bring the same type of success to Niagara women’s basketball team.

“The goal is to win a MAAC championship and to earn an NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. In order to achieve this goal we must work to get better. There is a lot to be said about being the first to achieve something,” Pierce said. But we don’t get there without risking failure. The players will be challenged daily to reach their full potential.”

Pierce played collegiate basketball at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
