Town of Tonawanda paramedic unit lauded for consistency

TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A unique organization which operates in conjunction with the Town of Tonawanda Police is being awarded for its medical service.

The town paramedic unit received the Agency of The Year Award from the Wyoming-Erie Regional Emergency Medical Services Council, a council which is part of 18 operating councils under the authority of the NYS Public Health Law.

Officials  from the paramedic unit, which is a civilian branch of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department, thanked police, firefighters and paramedics within the town for helping to achieve the honor.

The paramedic unit has 14 full time and five part time staff, who responded to 7,640 calls in 2014.
