BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man accused of trafficking drugs to supply a Buffalo gang which is being dismantled by police has been arrested in Texas.
Police say they arrested Julio Contreras, a 31-year-old Texas man who supplied cocaine to the Schuele Boys Gang. He’s now in custody of federal law enforcement. Authorities say they stopped him at a Port of Entry in Mission, Texas as he attempted to return to the U.S.
Authorities knew to stop the man thanks to a 15-count indictment in which he was named. Police have thus far charged 28 defendants in the Schuele Boys Gang case, and nine have been convicted thus far.
The Schuele Boys Gang operated in the Schuele Avenue area of Buffalo’s east side, and is accused of widespread drug distribution and violence. Investigation led them to Contreras, who they say supplied the gang with $1,000,000 in cocaine each moth.
Contreras faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, narcotics conspiracy and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
