Italian Heritage Festival kicks off Thursday morning

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – This year’s Galbani Italian Heritage Festival is set to begin at 11 a.m. Thursday on Hertel Avenue.

The festival is taking place between Colvin and Delaware on Hertel and Hertel Avenue will be closed to traffic until 6 a.m. Monday.

This year’s festival will feature more than 50 Italian food vendors and restaurants, as well as carnival rides and family activities celebrating all things Italian. A few of the highlights include the annual Miss Italian Festival contest, the Italian Idol contest, cooking demonstrations by Chef Marco, grape stomping four times daily, bocce tournaments, kids crafts, and staff on hand to help with family tree research. News 4 reporters will be taking part in the Cheese Building Contest at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Galbani Italian Heritage Festival will be open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
