INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A recently released child killer and sex offender has been arrested in Indianapolis.
67-year-old Richard Dobeski was released from prison July 16.
He was arrested Thursday afternoon at Central Library in Indianapolis by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Online court records show a warrant was issued out of LaPorte County for failure to register as a sex offender. However, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says that Dobeski will face charges in Marion County.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office released this statement:
After consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, and further review and deliberation, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office determined that this was the appropriate time to arrest Mr. Dobeski.”
Dobeski was sentenced for the murder of two children in the 1960s, then released in 2003. His sentenced was reduced due to good behavior.
According to the The Times of Northwest Indiana, Dobeski took a bus to Indianapolis after a Gary homeless shelter closed the day before.
