AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York has its 83rd lottery millionaire, and she’s a western New Yorker.
Janice Rovner, a retired teacher, has played the same lottery numbers for 20 years but received a shocking piece of news when she learned her local Dash’s in Williamsville sold a winning $1 million Mega Millions ticket. Rovner said her friend broke the news to her.
“I have been playing the same Lottery numbers for more than 20 years. They are all very significant related to my children and family,” Rovner said.
When Rovner checked her ticket numbers in late May, she learned she was the big winner.
Rovner received a lump sum payment of $661,800 after the required withholdings on July 23. Rovner said she’s not yet sure what she’ll do with the money.
“I never thought I would win big, but it will definitely help me to enjoy my retirement,” Rovner said.
