Speeding stop leads police to arrest woman for cocaine, mushrooms and pot

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman is behind bars, accused of having three drugs on her person during a traffic stop for speeding.

Police pulled over Mercedes Curry on July 21 along the I-190 for a traffic stop. Police say during the investigation, they found a quantity of crack cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana. New York State Troopers arrested her soon after.

Curry stands charged with felony fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Following her arraignment, a judge remanded Curry to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Police say she will eturn to court at a later date.
