FOXBOROUGH, Ma. (WIVB) — As NFL teams begin to hit the practice turf, it’s business as usual for most; but for the Patriots, they’re attempting to remain upbeat in spite of a deflated off-season.
Many NFL fan bases aren’t quite ready to let the Patriots and their star quarterback Tom Brady put an event now known as Deflate Gate into their past. A group of New York Jets fans took their efforts to the next level on Thursday, flying a small plane over the Patriots’ Foxborough practice fields with a banner confidently attached.
It read, “CHEATERS LOOK UP!” in red lettering.
Not to let the gesture remain anonymous, the fans behind the stunt included a Twitter handle linking it back to the New York Jets fandom.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick declined comments on the ongoing scandal, which now could head to federal court following NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell’s decision to uphold his punishment on Tom Brady.
Brady remains suspended for four games to start the season, but has pledged to fight the suspension. The team was fined $1 million and lost a pair of draft picks, but Patriots owner Robert Kraft decided to accept the punishment.
