LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — A tip from a local dentist may have landed one Lockport senior citizen behind bars.
Police say they responded to a local dentist office after employees there called in an intoxicated patient. When they hit the scene, police say they investigated Kathleen M. Kunkel, 71, and decided she showed signs of being drunk.
Following a battery of tests — which police say Kunkel failed — they arrested her and submitted her to a doctor’s office to get her blood drawn to test her level of intoxication.
Kunkel has had prior run-ins with police. Officials say she’s had a conviction of driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years. A judge took that into consideration when Kunkel appeared for arraignment.
The judge remanded Kunkel to jail on $1,000 bail. Kunkel stands charged with felony DWI.
