LAKEWOOD, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fatal crash Thursday night involving two teens is under investigation by police, with charges pending in the case.

Just after 9 p.m. in Lakewood two cars collided, forcing the response of police, firefighters and medical personnel at East Fairmount Avenue. Medics worked to save the life of one severely injured 16-year-old, but upon the teen’s arrival at WCA Hospital, she was pronounced dead.

Police who investigated the accident say they believe the 16-year-old was a passenger in a car driven by a 17-year-old, who News 4 is declining to name at this time.

The 17-year-old reportedly attempted to make a left turn into a Tim Horton’s store, but turned in front of another driver.

The two vehicles fatally collided, and police say charges are pending against the 17-year-old. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
