Speeding stop leads to felony DWI charges for local woman

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman who has been convicted of driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years is again facing charges of DWI.

Police stopped Christie L. Kalec, 31, for speeding along Transit Road in Clarence. While talking with Kalec, officers say they could smell alcohol on her person. Police began investigating her for DWI and put her through a battery of tests.

During a breathalyzer test, police say they learned her blood alcohol content was .22 percent, or over two times the legal limit.

Kalec faces charges of felony DWI. She’ll return to court on Aug. 13.
