Company breaks ground on fire station in Hamburg

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – Crews broke ground on the new Big Tree Fire Station, Saturday.

After a 9-year review process centering around the needs of the community, new plans called for a consolidation of services and equipment to enhance the overall efficiency of the department.

The new facility will merge two existing stations into one larger, centrally located facility designed to accommodate the newer larger apparatus.

The $3.2 million facility will be centrally located at 4112 Big Tree Rd. and will span nearly 20,000 sq. ft.

Scheduled completion is set for mid-summer 2016.
