Police investigating fatal west side Buffalo shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police responded to the scene of a fatal evening shooting in Buffalo just after 5:15 p.m on Wednesday.

Officers say they responded to calls of two men struck by gunfire at the intersection of Vermont and 14th Street on Buffalo’s west side. Police say 33-year-old Jose Lanzot died at the scene of the shooting. First responders rushed the second victim, a 31-year-old to the Erie County Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. .

Police blocked off the area with police tape, and fire, medical and police officials responded to the scene.

Officers in Buffalo have been forced to respond to several shootings in broad daylight over the past few weeks, including on Leroy Avenue and on Wick Street.
