PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Bills handled some business on their day off Sunday, signing nickel cornerback Nickell Robey to a contract extension.
Robey, a former undrafted free agent who quickly turned into a key part of the defense, ranked second on the team last season with eight passes defensed. In two seasons with the Bills, Robey has 84 tackles, four sacks, and one interception.
“I commend our scouting staff for identifying and signing a player of Nickell’s caliber in the undrafted college free agent period,” Bills GM Doug Whaley said in a press release this morning. “Since entering the NFL, Nickell has worked hard and taken advantage of his opportunities to make plays when called upon. Under the tutelage of Rex Ryan and his coaching staff, we believe Nickell will continue to develop and make significant contributions within this defense.”
The Bills had the day off from practice Sunday. They will return to the field at training camp Monday morning at 10am.
