BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo residents living near the medical campus are hosting a peaceful protest they’re calling a ‘park in’ – leaving their cars on the streets, outside of their homes which they say are often filled with people going to the medical campus.
“The parking is horrible around here,” says Tynja Cloud a resident who lives near the campus.
Cloud has lived in the Fruit Belt her whole life. She says the neighborhood has changed since the medical campus’ construction began.
“I don’t have a parking space; not even a driveway,” says Cloud. “If I move in the morning, by the time I get home in the evening there is still no parking spots. They park on our streets and I don’t have anywhere to park.”
And it is only expected to get worse.
“Once they get the other three buildings up and running we haven’t seen anything yet,” says Benjamin Cashaw, the president for the Fruit Belt Coalition.
Residents hope the park in and peaceful demonstration will prove a point about how inconvenienced they are through having to park several blocks away from their homes.
