Police identify body found in Batavia creek

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Although investigation is far from over on a body found in the Tonawanda Creek, Batavia Police are revealing new details in the case.

Officials say the body belongs to a missing man from the city, identified as 49-year-old Troy M. Hickman. Police say they requested help of other first responders to pull the body from Tonawanda Creek on Aug. 7, when they originally found it.

The body had been in the water for quite some time, police say. Police are now investigating the man’s disappearance as well as his death.

While the investigation is under way, police say they’re waiting on full results from the medical examiner’s office.

Police wouldn’t release any other details.
