South Park Avenue temporarily closed due to sinkhole

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) — Crews worked throughout Wednesday afternoon to repair a decrepit section of South Park Avenue after a sinkhole appeared.

Officials reported the sinkhole and closed the road for a half mile from Big Tree Road to Bayview Road at about 2 p.m. They estimated it could take up to eight hours for repairs to finish. Sinkhole 2

The repairs backed up traffic along surrounding routes, including Route 20 for several miles. Crews wrapped up their work just before 6 p.m., and congestion cleared soon after.
