Former Sabres standout Briere to hang up skates

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former Sabre who helped the team reach playoff heights in 2006 and 2007 is hanging up his skates for good.

The celebrated Daniel Briere announced to a Quebec newspaper he would retire from NHL hockey in order to spend more time with his family, comprised of his three sons.

Briere played his final season with the Colorado Avalanche.
