LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) — A victim’s quick thinking cut short a crime spree reportedly involving four people from Rochester on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Police say they received a call for help from the bathroom of a local convenience store. A man on the phone told police he had been captured at gunpoint from his room at a local motel.
The man explained two people robbed him and forced him into their car at gunpoint, then took him to the store to withdraw money from the ATM machine. That’s when the victim locked himself inside the store’s bathroom and called for help.
While responding to the scene, police say they detained two suspects, and those arrests led to two additional arrests. Police are holding 43-, 37-, 28- and 20-year-old suspects, who have been charged with kidnapping, robbery, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
An investigation is continuing, but the suspects will return to court at a later date.
