Niagara Falls to build skate park with funds from Tony Hawk Foundation

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — With help from one of the most well-known skaters to ever pick up a board, Niagara Falls says it is moving forward with plans to build the Niagara Falls Skate Park.

A grant from Tony Hawk’s Foundation will award $10,000 to the skate park project, in partial thanks to locals who are helping the project move forward. Now, the Niagara Falls Skate Park project is in its final design — with the help of local skaters and BMX bike riders who had input on design.

Located in Hyde Park, the 2015 Community Development Action Plan is footing the rest of the bill to help construct the concrete park.

The Tony Hawk Foundation has helped fund more than 500 similar skate parks in all 50 states, donating over $5.2 million to public projects. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
