BOSTON, N.Y. (WIVB) — Reports from concerned drivers along Route 219 alerted police to a woman driving her car down the wrong way of the expressway.
Police say they caught up with the woman along the route in the Town of Boston early Monday morning, before she crashed into any vehicles traveling on the proper side of the roadway. While investigating her, Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies say they tested their suspicions that she drove under the influence of alcohol.
The driver, identified as 47-year-old Loralee Tischler, reportedly failed all sobriety tests, registering a .15 percent blood alcohol content on a breathalyzer test. Police charged her with driving while intoxicated, arrested her and searched her vehicle. Inside, police say they found open beer and vodka bottles.
Tischler stands charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving and drinking alcohol in a vehicle on a highway. She’ll answer charges at a later date in court.
