LE ROY, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former treasurer of Le Roy’s fire department and Fireman’s Benevolent Association was sentenced to 30 days in jail, Tuesday.
Dennis Snow, 61, pleaded guilty late last year to the theft of $46,000 to fuel a gambling addiction.
Snow was arrested after an investigation found he siphoned money out of accounts from both organizations from 2007 to 2013. He was subjected to audits and investigations by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
“For years, Snow abused his position to divert public funds for his own use and forged records to cover his crimes,” DiNapoli said.
In addition to time in jail, Snow was also sentenced to five years of probation and must pay full restitution. He has already paid back almost $30,000.
