Hotel worker calls police to rescue dog from hot car

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — With no owner in sight, a local hotel employee called police Monday to aid a dog in distress inside a hot car.

Niagara Falls Police say they responded to the Quality Hotel and Suites on First Street to rescue a chihuahua. Officers broke the window and removed the dog around 1 p.m., when temperatures in the area were around 85 degrees; heat would peak at 90 degrees later in the day.

Police took the dog to the Niagara County SPCA after giving it cool water and allowing it to cool down.

Hotel representatives say the car did not belong to a hotel guest. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
