Police officer shows his strength, inside and out in cancer battle

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A young officer is in fear of losing his life. Not from being in the line of duty – but from cancer.

For Officer Nick Colaneri being a police officer runs in his blood.

“I love this job. I have a real passion for it,” said Officer Colaneri.

But then he got the diagnosis no one ever wants to hear.

“I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, stage 4 B. It’s progressing to my bones, different organs, my liver, spleen, spine, and pelvis,” Colaneri explained.

He has been attending chemotherapy treatments since July, and from this picture he provided to NEWS10ABC, it’s looking like he’s staying strong.

Nick’s chemo treatment will last at least 18 weeks. He’s been traveling to New Hampshire and Vermont to complete it.
